Teen FND Academy™ is designed for families who are ready to fully commit to resolving FND. Here’s how to know if this program is a better fit for you compared to conventional treatment models:

Teen FND Academy™ focuses on providing practical, actionable strategies for resolving FND, not just living with symptoms. It offers flexibility, ongoing support, and a community of families on the same journey. Teen FND Academy™ is a 6-month online group coaching program. Most teens see big improvements in 3-4 months, but we give you 6 months so no one feels rushed. Your teen doesn't have to stay the full 6 months if they meet their goals early, but they can if they want. You also have the option to extend the program if needed. We want to ensure your teen gets all the support they need to fully recover.

The program is built around three key parts:

1. BRAIN For Teens™ – Over 50 short, bite-sized videos with interactive worksheets and handouts that explain the "what, how, and why" of FND. Teens and parents can learn at their own pace, and the videos are available at their fingertips for convenience.

2. Weekly Group Coaching Calls – These calls are led by Dr. Lee and give both teens and parents the opportunity to ask questions, get expert advice, and receive encouragement in a supportive group setting. Calls happen once a week and last for one hour.

3. Community Forum – Separate forums for teens and parents allow each group to connect with others who are on the same journey. Dr. Lee is also available on the forum to provide ongoing support throughout the program.

Commitment: This program requires both parents and teens to actively engage in all three parts to get the best results. You’ll need to commit to watching the videos, attending the weekly one-hour coaching calls, and participating in the community forum. The more effort and dedication you put in, the more you’ll get out of the program.

What the program guarantees is that Dr. Lee and her team will consistently show up to support families navigating the recovery process. 

However, the recovery process is highly individualized, centered around defined goals. The ultimate outcome depends on your commitment, active participation, and the collaborative efforts of both you and your child.

Teen FND Academy™ is not a therapy or treatment program. It’s an online group coaching program that teaches practical steps to help teens and parents overcome FND. We guide you through each step to build the skills needed to resolve FND.

Hospital programs for FND usually involve many specialists like doctors and therapists. These programs might be inpatient (where your child stays in the hospital) or intensive outpatient (where your child visits often). They are often short-term and might not provide much parent support. Plus, they often require families to travel, sometimes out of state, and take time away from work or other family members.

Teen FND Academy™ is different because it’s completely online. You and your child can join weekly calls from anywhere and access the curriculum whenever you want. You can go at your own pace and get support from Dr. Lee and other families for 6 months. Plus, you can extend the program if needed. Our online format offers flexible and supportive help for your child’s recovery without the need for travel or disruption in your daily life.

No, Teen FND Academy™ is an online group coaching program and does not accept insurance for payment.

However, some families have been able to use their Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to cover for the program. We recommend checking with your insurance company or employer to see if you are eligible to use these options.

We understand that family situations are unique, but for the Teen FND Academy™ program, we strongly recommend the active involvement of both parents. This helps create a supportive and unified environment for the teen.

If only one parent can participate, including attending the weekly coaching calls, it’s important to have open communication between both parents to ensure the teen gets as much support as possible. 

Families where parents are separated with high conflict may not be the best fit for our program.

For the program to be effective, both parent(s) and the teen need to actively engage and collaborate. If your child is not motivated to resolve FND, then we are not a good fit.

However, if your child is skeptical or doubtful about the program, it's a common concern. Dr. Lee is available to discuss how the program may benefit your child during the consultation call, addressing any questions or reservations you and your child may have.

Many teens opt to continue seeing a therapist for general mental health or emotional concerns while they are in the Teen FND Academy. It is entirely feasible for your child to continue therapy alongside the program, as long as there is no confusion between the recommendations from the therapist and the program. Open communication and clarity about the strategies recommended by both the therapist and the program can facilitate a harmonious and supportive approach to your child's well-being.

There is no minimum number of hours required per week for the program, except for a one-hour commitment to the weekly coaching calls. The curriculum is designed to be self-paced, allowing you and your child the flexibility to set your own timeline.

Our suggestion is to progress through one (1) module per week, aiming to complete the first 10 modules in 10 weeks. Additionally, we recommend dedicating approximately 10-30 minutes per day, depending on the module's content, to implement the skills being learned.

While investing more time can strengthen your child’s foundation and skills, there is no "magic number" for resolving FND quickly. The program is adaptable to fit within your schedule, ensuring a manageable and effective learning experience.

However, if you and your child are not willing to carve out the time to implement the skills from the program, this program is not a good fit for you.

Absolutely! Anyone involved in your child’s life and care is welcome to join the program. The more support and engagement from extended family members, the better!
